Ice Station Zebra Lands in Kirkenes and Nikel

Project Ice Station Zebra landed in Kirkenes and Nikel in May with kids on both sides of the border exploring the theatrical film set created by artist Emily Newman.  During workshops held in both towns, Russian and Norwegian kids used their own creativity and curiosity to piece together clues and decode messages from across geographical, political and historical borders; all against the backdrop of Cold War pulp-fiction.

A weekend with submarines, polar bears, satellites, spies, friends and secrets.

The project is a result of Emily Newmans previous visits with Pikene på Broen’s BAR International, artist-in-residence program.

Ice Station Zebra is supported by Kulturrådet and the Norwegian Barents Secretariat
