This October, we welcome Tom Bailey — theatre maker and founder of the award-winning company MECHANIMAL (Bristol, UK) — for a month-long residency with Pikene på Broen in Kirkenes. Together with performance and sound artist Xavier Velastin, Tom will create a new climate-focused production and present two special performances at Terminal B.
23 October, 19:00 — “New Leaf” (Open Rehearsal)
How might you create a show in collaboration with a tree? Is it even possible? Join Tom and Xavi for an open rehearsal and talk as they share their process of working with a particular pine tree in the Passvik forest. They’d love to share some of their questions and processes.
After the rehearsal, Tom will also present a 2 month-long, 1000 mile journey by foot and by sea across Scotland, Norway and Denmark — an adventure exploring the challenges of green theatre touring.
24 October, 18:00 — “Vigil” (Performance)
Dusky Seaside Sparrow, Cinnamon-coloured Cryptic Tree Hunter, Problematic Flasher, Fire Millipede From Hell… and 25,996 other species — and only ONE human who attempts to perform all of them in under an hour.
“Vigil”, a highly acclaimed theatre production, a wild, playful exploration of life in an age of extinction. It blends projection, acting, movement, poetry, and a stunning soundscape.
