Per Berntsen’s photographic works are technically astute and cover a vast geographical area made up of Norway, Finland, Russia and Sweden – an area of 400 x 500 km, almost entirely inside the Sami nation, Sápmi. Metsä is Finnish for “forest”, and Berntsen’s exhibition examines this landscape that connects all four nations in the Barents Region.

The exhibition was made possible with support from Arts Council Norway, Billedkunstnernes Vederlagsfond, Pikene på Broen, Norske Fagfotografers Fond, Bildende kunstneres hjelpefond and OCA.

A book that accompanies the exhibition has been published by Teknisk Industri, and is available for sale during the exhibition. The book has text in English, Finnish, Russian and Northern Sami.
