Utstillingen ‘Frie Hender’ består av verk av 11 keramikere, alle bosatt og med sitt virke i nord, og viser et bredt spenn i keramikkunsten med flere typer leire, uttrykk og brenneteknikker. Følgende kunstnere er medvirkende i utstillingen:

Det er ikke tilfeldig at denne utstillingen åpner i Finnmark! Norges eldste keramikk – kamkeramikk – ble nemlig skapt i Finnmark, nærmere bestemt i Pasvikdalen for 7500 år siden.
«Vi føler ydmykhet og kjærlighet når vi tenker på steinaldermenneskene som holdt til her og brukte hendene sine til å bearbeide leire og skape gjenstander til sitt daglige liv. Måten de brukte ornamentikken, viser at de også var opptatt av å uttrykke skjønnhet.
Nå er det våre hender som skaper keramikk.»

Utstillingsåpning
Fredag 19. august kl.18.00 åpner vi utstillingen med de fleste av kunstnerne til stede, med åpningstale, musikk og lett servering.
Leireworkshop og forelesning om kamkeramikk
Under markdagen på Svanhovd i Pasvik lørdag 20.augusts vil kunstnerne holde leireworkshop, åpen for alle! Forsker Marianne Skandfer holder foredrag om den historiske kamkeramikken som har røtter også i Pasvik, på NIBIO Svanhovd kl.15.00.
The exhibition ‘Frie Hender’ consists of works by 11 artists, all living and working in the north, and shows a wide range of ceramic art with several types of clay, expressions and firing techniques. Following artists are a part of the exhibition:

It is no coincidence that this exhibition opens in Finnmark! Norway’s oldest ceramics were created in Finnmark, more specifically in Pasvikdalen, 7500 years ago.
“We feel humbled when we think of the Stone Age people who lived here and used their hands to work clay and create objects for their daily lives.The way they used ornamentation shows that they were also concerned with expressing beauty.
Now it is our hands that create ceramics.”

Program in the exhibition period
Exhibition opening
On Friday August 19 at 18.00 we will open the exhibition with most of the artists present, with an opening speech, music and light refreshments.
Clay workshop and lecture
During ‘markdag’ at Svanhovd in Pasvik Saturday August 19, the artists will hold a clay workshop, open to everyone! Researcher Marianne Skandfer gives a lecture on the historical ceramics, which also have roots in Pasvik, at NIBIO Svanhovd at 3pm.
