Nord har blitt både et utgangspunkt for kunstnerisk research og en attraktiv turistdestinasjon for folk fra hele kloden. Reiselivet er den største næringen i Sør-Varanger, som mange andre steder i Nord-Finland og Nord-Vest Russland. I likhet med reiselivsbransjen som sliter på grunn av koronarestriksjoner og stengte landegrenser, rammes kulturbransjen hardt av samlingsrestriksjoner.
Når kultur og reiseliv er de som sliter mest, hvordan kan koalisjon av kunst og det lokale reiselivet styrke hverandre og forvandle krisen til en ”vinn-vinn” situasjon?
Vi har invitert eksperter fra det internasjonale Nord til å dele deres erfaringer med kunstbasert reiseliv, og drøfte nye måter for samhandling og samskaping på tvers av kunst og det lokale reiselivet:

The North has become both a starting point for artistic research and a tempting touristic destination for people from all around the globe. Tourism is the biggest industry in Sør-Varanger, just like it is in many other places in Northern Finland and North-West Russia. Covid-19 restrictions and closed borders have hit the tourism industry hard, while limitations on gatherings have affected the entire cultural sector.
When tourism and culture suffer most, how can a coalition between art and local tourism strengthen each other and turn global “bad luck” into a “win-win” situation?
We’ve invited experts from the international North to share their experiences of working with art-based tourism, and to discuss new ways of cooperation and co-creation across art and local tourism:
