Pikene på Broen at two recognized international art biennials
Apparently, not all roads lead to Rome – at least not for Pikene på Broen. We’re taking part in two recognized international biennials this summer; the 56th Venice Biennale 2015 and the twelfth Havana Biennial 2015.
The Italian artist, Stefano Cagol, is a part of the German pavilion with his project The Body of Energy (of the mind), a nomadic art project realized in progress where the artist travels through Europe scanning new energies. During Barents Spektakel 2015, the 4th to the 8th of Feb, Cagol visited Kirkenes to do audio recordings and scanning energies. At the Venice Biennale in May Cagol launches the book documenting The Body of Energy (of the mind). Art Director of Pikene på Broen, Andreas Hoffmann, contributed to this with a curatorial statement. Pikene på Broen will be present during Cagol’s book launch.
After taking part in Pikene på Broen’s residency program, BAR International, and the Transborder Café,Sense and nonsense of activism in art, Sept 2014, Jose Fernandez Portal, One of the Havana Biennial curators, invited Pikene på Broen to arrange a Transborder Café during the twelfth Havana Biennial 2015.
The Transborder Café, Rethinking location – The inspiration of borders, will be held the 25th of May, 19.30 – 21.00, at Patio Amarillo De Artex, Centro Wifredo Lam. San Ignacio 22 esq. a Empedrado, La Habana Vieja, and some of the topics up for discussion are border politics, sanctions and art as a tool for dialogue across borders. Panel: Glexis Novoa (CU), Jorge Luis Santana (CU), Elvia Rosa Castro (CU), John Petter Opdahl (NO), Inger Blix Kvammen (NO) and Cornelius Stiefenhofer (DE). Cultural input: Rune Johansen (NO) and Solveig Ovanger (NO).
