Norwegian Ministry of Culture Expands Investment in Russian-Norwegian Cultural Cooperation

The Norwegian Ministry of Culture today announced an ongoing investment in Norwegian-Russian cultural cooperation with Pikene på Broen being one of the key cooperation partners for continued cross-border cultural dialogue.

“The cultural sector in Northern Norway has had contact with partners in Northwest Russia for many years. The government wants good relations with Russia in the cultural sphere and supports northern Norwegian festivals and museums that want to develop cross-border cooperation.” – Minister of Culture Linda Hofstad Helleland

The three-year funding scheme from 2016 to 2018 focuses specifically on continuing and expanding the cross-border cultural dialogue between festivals in Norway and Russia. We are thrilled to receive support in facilitating closer cooperation with and between regional festivals whilst strengthening the Barents Spektakel as a key Barents meeting place for artists, the public and volunteers.  The funding will also facilitate the widening our own network and allow for sharing our border-crossing experience with other festivals in the region.

The next Barents Spektakel will kick off on the 8th of February 2017.
