Five photographers digging into Barents
Cecilie Haaland (NO), Maria Gradin (SE), Marusya Baturina (RU), Nadia Degtyareva (RU) and Nick Degtyarev (RU) are up for busy days of Barents research, sightseeing, meet and greet and – in the true spirit of Pikene på Broen – border crossing during their residency.
Visits to Neiden, Bugøynes and Grense Jakobselv, city sightseeing in the centre of Kirkenes, hiking at Prestefjellet and a guided tour in Andersgrotta before travelling to Arkhangelsk, is only glimpses of their hectic program.
The photographers are in town to get to know the area and do pre-workfor a possible exhibition during Barents Spektakel 2016.
Thursday the 30th of April, 19.00, they’re taking part in Pikene på Broen’s very first Office Talk, an informal gathering where the artists will present themselves and their work and perhaps address a topic relevant for their practises, at Pikene på Broen’s office in Storgata 8.
After having dug into Kirkenes and its surroundings, the photographers travel to Arkhangelsk to partake in the second Photography Festival in Arkhangelsk. Maria Gradin will show original prints of photographs, which she shot in Arkhangelsk and Arkhangelsk Oblast in 1999.
The Photography Festival is organized by Cornelius Stiefenhofer with the Artist’s Union and Oleg Samoilov, supported by Pikene på Broen, Nordland County Council and the General Consulate of Germany in Saint Petersburg.
