Peter and Magda Razus, the driving forces behind the Slovakian organisation PRERAG (Prešov regional development agency) visited Pikene på Broen in beginning of March to exchange knowledge about cultural project management with focus on a possible collaboration in the field of cartoon as a non-verbal visual art form.
One of the topics of discussion was the authentic involvement of the audience in presenting and appreciating arts in non-traditional spaces and situations. The meeting resulted in identifying several concrete ways of future cooperation, such as using the experience of the Barents Spektakel festival in Prešov and developing a cartoon-project with workshops and exhibition based on the Brain Sneezing project in Prešov. Atle Staalesen, adviser at the Norwegian Barents Secretariat, introduced special geographical and political features of the Finnmark region to our guests and explained the nature of Norwegian–Russian cross-border activities and the potential that this experience offers to the Norwegian-Slovak and Slovak–Ukrainian cooperation.
In return Andreas Hoffmann visited the project partners in July and visited the city council´s Department of Culture, several local cultural institutions and NGOs. The visit resulted in planning a common project for 2015/16 with focus on cartoon and the further knowledge exchange in organizing cultural events across borders.
The visits were part of the Brain Sneezing bilateral project supported by a grant from EEA and Norway Grants.
