    The project of the architect Jan Gunnar Skjeldsøy is a result of several travels to Finnmark and the Kola Peninsula, and more recently his visit to the remote village of Shoyna in the Nenets Okrug. Shoyna was founded in the 1930s by the fishermen and their families.   • Artist Eva Bakkeslett in Kirkenes

    Eva Bakkeslett has just been here to do research for an art project she will produce for Barents Spektakel 2012. The artists´ main focus is on environmental issues and traditional skills, such as crafts and bread baking.   • New airport to Kirkenes

    In the project «Arctic Cargo» that Ilya Mukosey is developing for Barents Spektakel 2012, the artist in a way refers to the Melanesian «cargo cults»: after the WWII the natives in Melanesia used to build mock airstrips and airports, real size, believing that airplanes would come and bring them CARGO – boxes full of miraculous western goods, which would make life better.
